IN OUR CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD THIS WEEK, LET’S REMEMBER:
-- In long-term Senior Health Care Facilities: Edna Knutson (Providence Place); Julia Thiessen (Providence Place);
-- the last I heard, Leo was scheduled for his pre-op work-up this past Friday. When the diagnosis of kidney cancer was given on May 17th, they were told that the kidney needed to come out as soon as possible and that the surgery would be done within two weeks. So, if he was having his pre-op work done on Friday and the surgery has to be done within two weeks of the 17th, he should be having it Monday, Tuesday or Wed. of this week. They will also repair an abdominal aneurism at the same time as they do the kidney removal—two different doctors, with one surgery following the other;
-- Tracy as she heals from her April 20th back surgery--to correct a herniated disc;
-- Keith Dods is currently undergoing chemo and radiation treatments for his cancer;
-- Gladys Dods is in Pioneer Lodge—room 129. She’s feeling not too badly;
-- Mal Tarrant (Dauphin) as he is really struggling with cancer. Mal, Beth and their kids were part of our congregation for many, many years, prior to their move to Dauphin. We know this is a very stressful time for the family;
-- Vicki Knutson (Regina): lung cancer in both lungs;
-- please keep the families of all of the above named in your prayers. We know sickness in a member of one’s family is stressful for the whole family;
-- the search for our new minister;
-- Velma Forman as she ministers both physically and Spiritually to the people of Papua New Guinea. Clinic website: www.onemileclinic.org. Velma: vlforman@daltron.com.pg
-- our government leaders; world peace;
-- take a look around and remember one another in our Church family—may we show Jesus and His love through our words and actions.

determination and hard work.”
WELCOME: -- to Darrell and Darlene Buchanan, who are with us today from Regina—it’s great to have you with us again! Darrell will teach the adult Bible study class at 10:00 and bring us the lesson at 11:30. We look forward to hearing your lessons Darrell.

THANK YOU!: -- to Dan and Lew who jumped in on short notice to bring us the class at 10:00 and the lesson at 11:30 last Sunday. Western Christian College had confirmed with Darin that two of their young men would be with us last week to look after the class and sermon, but they called Darin on Friday afternoon to say they weren’t going to be coming over. Thanks so much to Dan and Lew for taking on these responsibilities.

SPECIAL COLLECTION: -- for the “Moose Jaw Church of Christ Members Mission Fund” will be today and/or next Sunday, June 5th. These funds will be set aside for use by members of our own congregation who are going on a mission trip. They can be accessed through written application and will be distributed through decision at the men’s business meeting.

NEEDED FOR CAMP CRAFTS: -- we need cereal boxes for our week of camp--these can be flattened. They can be given to either Donna or Bonnie and they will stash them away for Camp. Thanks!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: -- for cutting the grass here at the building. If you are able to help, please mark your name down on the calendar on the bulletin board—whatever week or weeks work for you. Calendars for May through August have been posted. When we get into the summer months, it will likely need to be cut twice a week to keep the yard looking nice. If possible, cutting it on Friday or Saturday would work best, so it looks good for Sunday. The lawn mower is in the storage area at the south west corner of the building. If you need any further information or want to know anything about the lawn mower, please check with Douglas. Thanks!

CLEARVIEW CHRISTIAN CAMP:
(1). 50th Anniversary Celebration: -- will be held on the July 1-3rd weekend. This will be a wonderful time of fellowship and sharing memories of 50 years at Clearview;
(2). History of Clearview: -- is being compiled. If you have pictures from times at Camp—long ago or recent—please give them to Bonnie. She will ensure that all original photos are returned. Also, if you have any history memories about the Camp and would write them down these can be given to Bonnie as well, for inclusion into the history.

“Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.”

“Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children.” -- Ephesians 5:1
What does it mean to imitate someone? There is an expression “imitation is the purist form of flattery.” Have you ever imitated someone? Likely the first people in our lives that we imitate are our parents—the little girl with the much-to-large apron tied around her waist ready to help Mom bake cookies. Or the little boy with a hammer, nail and a piece of wood wanting to build something “just like Daddy does.”
I decided to look up the meaning of the word “imitate”. Here is what I found:
 take or follow as a model; to mimic;
 to copy the actions, appearance, mannerisms, speech;
 to follow as a pattern, model or example;
 to follow or endeavor to follow;
 to seek to follow the example of;
 to act the same as; impersonate; to behave in a similar way to someone.
I’ve read Ephesians 5:1 many, many times, but in my Bible study time not long ago, those first four words jumped off the page at me. “Be imitators of God…”
Am I “imitating” God in my daily life? When I’m at work? When I’m at the grocery store? When I’m having coffee with a friend or talking on the phone? How about when I’m gossiping, or being unloving? When I won’t forgive? When I see someone who could use a word or two of encouragement and I turn my back on them? When I grumble and complain? When I look down on someone? When I’m haughty? When I criticize?
I think my imitation of God is pretty poor—terribly poor actually. When I look at the definitions for the word, I must shamefully say that I don’t even come close. How can He love me when it seems that in most areas of my life I don’t even try to imitate Him? This is a big responsibility. I will never be perfect like God—but I can do a much better job in trying to be like Him—in trying to imitate Him. -- Author Unknown

HA! HA!: As a jet was flying over Arizona on a clear day the co-pilot was providing his passengers with a running commentary about landmarks. “Coming up on the right, you can see the Meteor Crater, which is a major tourist attraction in northern Arizona. It was formed when a lump of nickel and iron, roughly 150 feet in diameter and weighing 300,000 tons, struck the earth 50,000 years ago at about 40,000 miles an hour, scattering white-hot debris for miles in every direction. The hole measures nearly a mile across and is 570 feet deep.”
The lady in the window seat next to me looked out the window and exclaimed: “Wow, look! It just barely missed the highway!”

MY ACHILLES HEEL
“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing
but the flesh is weak.” -- Matthew 26:41
Nobody is temptation-proof. Even mature Christians have weaknesses in their Spiritual armor that make them vulnerable to a wounding attack by the enemy of their souls. Our pride can provide the very opening needed for the sharp thrust of a satanic dart. So can the love of money, a quick temper, a critical tongue or chronic impatience.
What, after all, is temptation? It’s ”any enticement to think, say, or do something contrary to God’s holy will. It may be a weak impulse or a powerful urge. Anything that’s against what God approves or desires for us”.
The ancient Greeks told a story of a warrior named Achilles. His mother had been warned that he would die of a wound, so, as an infant, she dipped him in the River Styx. That was supposed to make him invincible. But she held him by one heel which the protective waters didn’t cover. And it was through that heel that he received his fatal wound.
Each of us must ask, “What is my Achilles heel?” We need to know our weaknesses, where we could easily be wounded spiritually. Then, as we rely on the Lord for His help, we will be protected from “the fiery darts of the wicked one.” (Eph. 6:16).
-- V. C. Grounds

Each day we learn from yesterday
Of God’s great love and care;
And every burden we must face
He’ll surely help us bear.
