IN OUR CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD THIS WEEK, LET’S REMEMBER:
-- In long-term Senior Health Care Facilities: Edna Knutson (Providence Place); Julia Thiessen (Providence Place);
-- Gladys as she recovers from her broken hip and the surgery that followed on July 15th; -- Cal as he is doctoring with his heart problems;
-- Leo as he continues to regain his strength since his surgeries;
-- the Dods family as they mourn the loss of Gladys--wife, mom and grandma;
-- Keith Dods as he is having another round of chemo treatments for his cancer;
-- Mal Tarrant (Dauphin) as his health deteriorates due to cancer. Mal, Beth and their kids were part of our congregation for many, many years, prior to their move to Dauphin;
-- Vicki Knutson (Regina) as she is struggling with her cancer;
-- please keep the families of all of the above named in your prayers. We know sickness in a member of one’s family is stressful for the whole family;
-- if all went according to plan, Velma was to arrive in Vancouver on Friday for her three month sabbatical from her work in Papua New Guinia. We know she is looking forward to having a break from her work and seeing all her family again after being away three years. She plans to be in Moose Jaw around Thanksgiving time; vlforman@daltron.com.pg
-- our government leaders; world peace;
-- take a look around and remember one another in our Church family—may we show Jesus and His love through our words and actions.
SUMMER SCHEDULE: -- please keep in mind that our time together on Sunday mornings from June 5th through August 28th, will begin at 10:30 a.m. As in the past number of years, the time from 10:30 to 10:55 will be a devotional time, while also sharing in some singing with the children. There is a schedule on the bulletin board for the men to sign up to be in charge of the 10:30 to 10:55 time, so if you can look after this time for a Sunday or two (or more!) please mark your name down.
Our regular worship service will begin as usual at 11:00 a.m.
“Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the
world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.” -- Psalm 90:2
WELCOME!: -- it is a great pleasure to welcome Darrell and Darlene to our Church family here in Moose Jaw! We look forward to having Darrell working with us full-time as our new minister, and to getting to know both of you better. Darrell and Darlene’s e-mail address will be in next week’s bulletin.
As has been our tradition over the past years when someone joins the congregation, we would like to welcome Darrell and Darlene with a hamper of food from the members of the congregation. If you would like to donate some grocery items to the hamper, please put them in the Rubbermaid container on the counter in the nursery or give them to Terri-Lynn or Linda and they will see that they get into the container. If you aren’t able to be out and about to shop, you may give some money to either Terri-Lynn or Linda and they will purchase some items for you. Deadline: Sunday, September 11th.
A pot-luck lunch to welcome Darrell & Darlene will be held on Sunday, Sept. 11th, at noon, following our morning worship service.
CONGRATULATIONS!: -- to Bonnie on the purchase of her new home in Moose Jaw. Hope it’s wonderful and a great place to come home to!
“A house is built with bricks, a home is built with love.
May happiness fill every corner of your new home.”
(Bonnie’s address will be on the next Congregational Address Directory update.)

There are pictures from the Grades 2 to 5 week, which was looked after by a group of us from here, on the table at the back. Check out the activities from that week.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: -- for cutting the grass here at the building. If you can help, please mark your name down on the calendar on the b.b. More info: check with Douglas.
CLEARVIEW CHRISTIAN CAMP: -- “Girl’s Week” at Camp wrapped-up on Friday, and the “Grades 9-12 Week” begins today. Please keep the Camp in your prayers that the Word of God planted in the hearts of these young people will grow and make a difference in their lives.
OUR ON-GOING COLLECTIONS:
(1). Canadian Tire Money: can be given to Linda. This will be used to purchase something for use in the kitchen at Clearview Christian Camp next summer. Thanks!
(2). Moose Jaw & District Food Bank: all non-perishable grocery items are gratefully accepted and can be placed in the container in the foyer.
(3). For Western Christian College: Campbell Soup labels. The whole label--ensure that the UPC bar code is in tack. Campbell’s Soup gives the school a rebate for labels sent in.
PLEASE NOTE: -- just by way of clarification regarding what does and does not go into the bulletin: I sometimes get asked why some news regarding a member of the congregation isn’t in the bulletin. I only put something in the bulletin—especially health related issues—if that person or their immediate family have asked me to include it. Illness can be a very personal thing and we want to respect that. Also, since our bulletin started being on our Internet site, I have stopped using last names for our members, and won’t put in addresses or phone numbers unless specifically requested to do so by the individual(s)--we will be kept up-to-date on those types of things from the Congregational Address Directory. If you have news you would like in the bulletin, as we used to do with Darin, and you can now do with Darrell, please tell him if you want him to pass the information on to me for inclusion in the bulletin. Or you can phone me at home in the evening, or e-mail me anytime. Most of the time I do the bulletin on Thursday evening—there may be a time or two during the year that I have something on Thursday evening and then I do it on Wednesday, but that isn’t very often. I hope this explains why sometimes it seems I am overlooking something about someone.
“Remember me God? I come every day just to talk with You. You make me feel welcome. You reach out Your hand. I need never explain, for You understand …
I come to You frightened and burdened with care.
So lonely and lost and so filled with despair.
And suddenly, Lord, I’m no longer afraid …
My burden is lighter and the dark shadows fade.
Oh God, what a comfort to know that You care,
And to know when I seek You, You will always be there.”
-- Helen Steiner Rice
“Associate yourself with people of good quality if you esteem your own reputation;
for ‘tis better to be alone than in bad company.” -- George Washington
“Enjoy yourself! These are the “good old days” you’re going to miss in ten years!”
“The squeaky wheel may get the grease, but it also may be the first one to get replaced!”
BE CAREFUL ABOUT RUTS
Connecting two Canadian towns 42 miles apart is said to be a road of which the first section is a broad modern paved road. However, after 18 miles the pavement ends abruptly. From there a primitive dirt road begins and a description of this unimproved stretch is given by a huge sign which stands at the beginning of it. The sign reads:
“Be careful what rut you get into
—you will stay in it for the next 25 miles.”
This is a parable of life: at first, in childhood and youth, we race along what is a broad and beautiful highway. But after a certain point, when habit patterns have become set, when our way of life has fallen into a definite pattern, we are likely to continue unchanged till we die—in a rut.
It is for this reason that all decisions, and especially those made in youth, are of such great importance; and it is for the same reason that religion insists that every choice must be made in light of the most far-seeking wisdom.
Each decision you make may well determine the course of your life for the next 25, 50 or 75 years! Be careful what “rut” you get into! -- Author Unknown
You go through this world but once. If, therefore, there
be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can
do, let me do it now. Let me not defer it or
neglect it, for I shall not pass this
way again.”
