-- the Dods family as they mourn the loss of Gladys--wife, mom and grandma;

-- the Tarrant family as they mourn the loss of Mal—husband, dad, grandpa, son, brother;

ADULT SUNDAY MORNING BIBLE CLASS: -- will start again next Sunday, Sept. 11th. From Darrell: “Genesis is a rich book, full of great stories and truths about God, God’s people, and the world God created. The first part of Genesis contains some stories that are hard to understand, but still have a great deal to teach. When the book shifts to Abraham and his descendants, we not only learn about the forefathers of the Jewish people, but also find timeless lessons about how people are to respond to God in faith and obedience.” Thanks for the introduction Darrell—we look forward to your class.
WEDNESDAY EVENING ADULT CLASS: -- will resume again this Wednesday, September 7th, 7:00 p.m.
SUMMER’S OVER!!: -- today is the last Sunday of our “Summer Schedule” for this year—where did the summer go??!! Next Sunday, September 11th we will return to our regular schedule with Bible classes for all ages from 10:00 to 10:45 and then our worship service beginning at 11:00 a.m.
We want to say a huge thank you to the men of our congregation who have stepped in since March and looked after the adult Bible study on Sunday mornings, our devotional time from 10:30 to 11:00 on Sunday mornings for June, July and August and all the great lessons brought at the 11:30 time of our worship service. We are so blessed to have men who will take on responsibilities when the need arises. You know who you are—thank you!

“Leave all results with God. You are not always digging up the seeds in your
garden to see how they are growing. Trust all to God, and
He will bless your work.”
PRAYER REQUEST: -- if you were in attendance when Ray McMillan was with us on Sunday morning July 10th, you will remember that during the 10:00 to 10:30 time he gave a presentation on his work with “Heart Warmer Ministries” which does work in north-east India and north-west Burma. Specifically they help with schools and rescue homes for disadvantaged and at-risk children. “Human trafficking is on the rise in these areas. It is estimated that annually more than 1,000 Nepalese girls are transported through the NE to other points of Southeast Asia. It’s hard to imagine the desperation which deep poverty brings. The poor often give birth to many more children than they can sustain. Ultimately some make tragic choices for their offspring by allowing them to be sold into prostitution, slave labour-force or even the body-parts market.”
In order to administer funds and to make sure the funds are being used for their intended purposes, Ray revisits these areas twice a year (fall & spring), working along side of ministries already working there. The goal is to eventually help initiate two more rescue homes in connection with schools already operating. Ray’s next visit will be Oct. 13 to Dec. 6 to NE India and NW Myanmar and accompanying him this time will be Shelby Goud (Carlyle), Wilf & Laura Olson (Regina) and Ian MacLeod (Saskatoon). Please keep this work and this group in your prayers, as they prepare to go on this trip and during their time over there.
REPAIR YOUR BRIDGES …
I cannot explain why good friends, neighbours and even family “fall out” with each other. But I do know that, in the nature of things, forgiving and forgetting require boundless grace—and most of us don’t have enough.
I recall the story of two sisters who lived in the same small town without having spoken to each other in nearly 20 years. When Alice turned 75, her sister, Mary, found her conscience pricking. And when she heard that Alice was ill she felt compelled to visit her.
From her sick bed, Alice looked sternly at her visitor. At last she said faintly, “Mary, the doctor says I’m going to die. If I do, I want you to know you’re forgiven—but mind, if he’s wrong, things stay as they are.”
Laugh if you like, but before you do, ask yourself: “DO I HAVE ANY OF MY OWN BRIDGES THAT ARE IN NEED OF REPAIR?” -- Author Unknown
“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak.
Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen!”
HA! HA!:
** “A weed is a plant that has mastered every survival skill except for learning to grow in a row.”
** “What do you call a stolen yam?” “A hot potato!”
** To be a first-grade teacher you have to have skill, dedication, and an immunity to knock-knock jokes!
PREPARING TO STOP
“If the Lord delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumbles, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.” -- Psalm 37:23
As children, we loved hearing three words shouted in slow succession before running a race on the playground: “Ready … Set … Go!” But has your life ever been running along at top speed and you’ve heard the signal: “Ready … Set … Stop”?
Howard Westlund a busy preacher in the Chicago area, told about such an experience. In a letter to his congregation, he said, “I was ready for a full evening which would include involvement with our youth group. Then it happened: “Ready … Set … Stop!”
Howard was rushed to the hospital with a severe leg infection. During that time, he remembered a paraphrased version of today’s text: “The Lord orders our starts and our stops.” Yes, the busy preacher had been brought to an abrupt halt!
Later Howard wrote: “I wasn’t ready for a stop. How do you get ready for the thing you’re not ready for? I hadn’t missed a service due to sickness in 25 years! When God tells us to stop, we can fuss and complain and argue how much we are needed in the “go” position. Or we can just wait, with a growing trust that He does all things well.”
Howard chose the latter and learned that continuing to trust God is the only way to get ready for the things we’re not ready for. Have you learned that vital lesson yet?
-- J.E. Yoder
“Oh for the peace of perfect trust, my loving God, in Thee;
Unwavering faith that never doubts Thou chooses best for me.”
