FOR THE BABIES IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA: -- “I am gathering baby blankets, receiving blankets, sleepers and undershirts for One Mile Clinic. Velma said sleepers and undershirts for ages two and under are what are needed for them to hand out at the Clinic. These do not need to be new—if you wish to purchase some, that’s great, but if anyone has used ones they are done with that is perfectly fine to.” -- Donna

(1). Garage Sale for Clearview Christian Camp: will be in the spring. If you have items you would like to donate, you can either set them aside at home, or they can be put on the tables in the large classroom downstairs. It’s a good way of getting rid of your “junk” while supporting a very worthy cause.
(2). Canadian Tire Money: can be given to Linda. This will be used to purchase something for use in the kitchen at Clearview Christian Camp next summer. So far we have $18.65. In 2010 we purchased a coffee maker and in 2011 a mixette.
(3). Moose Jaw & District Food Bank: all non-perishable grocery items are gratefully accepted and can be placed in the container in the foyer.
(4). For Western Christian College: Campbell Soup labels. The whole label--ensure that the UPC bar code is in tack. Campbell’s Soup gives the school a rebate for labels sent in.

his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God.
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” -- Isaiah 9:6

Let this Christmas season be a renewing of the mind of Christ in our thinking,
and a cleansing of our lives by His pure presence. Let His joy come
to our weary world through us. -- Gerald Kennedy
******
“The most vivid memories of Christmases past are usually not of gifts given or
received, but of the spirit of love, the special warmth of friends and
family, the cherished little habits of the home, the results of others
acting in the spirit of Christ.” -- L. Rand

McKINLEY’S YARDSTICK
When William McKinley was President of the United States, he had to make a decision about the appointment of an ambassador to a foreign country. Two candidates were equally qualified, so McKinley searched his mind for some “yardstick” by which he might measure the true character of the men.
Later he revealed that the unkindness of one of them was the determining factor in his decision. Many years earlier, when McKinley was still a Congressman, he had observed an inconsiderate action by one of the men. He recalled boarding a streetcar at the rush hour and getting the last vacant seat. Soon an elderly woman got on, carrying a heavy clothesbasket. No one got up to offer her a seat, so she walked the length of the car and stood in the aisle, hardly able to keep her balance as the vehicle swayed from side to side. One of the men McKinley was later to consider for ambassador was sitting next to where the woman was standing. Instead of getting up and helping her, he deliberately shifted his newspaper so it would look like he hadn’t seen her. When McKinley noticed this, he walked down the aisle, told her to come and take his seat, and graciously moved the basket for her. The other man was unaware that anyone was watching, but that one little act of selfishness would later deprive him of perhaps the crowning honor of his lifetime.
Every day we have occasions to do or to neglect acts of kindness. People are watching to see how closely our deeds match our words of Christian testimony. If they were to use McKinley’s yardstick, would it be evident that you are an ambassador for Christ?
-- M.R. DeHaan
This is the thing I always wish, the prayer I always pray:
“Lord, may my life help other lives it touches every day!”

Be absolutely determined to enjoy what you do!
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice
and be glad in it.” -- Psalm 118:24

“A happy heart is the best service we can give to God.”

HA!HA!: A tour guide was showing a tourist around Washington, D.C. The guide pointed out the place where George Washington supposedly threw a dollar across the Potomac River.
“That’s impossible,” said the tourist. “No one could throw a coin that far!”
“Well, remember,” replied the guide. “A dollar went a lot farther in those days.”

THE BIRTH OF JESUS FORETOLD
In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.”
“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God.”
“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.” Then the angel left her. At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!” -- Luke 1:25-45

“Faith helps us to walk fearlessly, to run confidently, nd to live victoriously.”
